We’ve all been there at some point – whether it’s washing up in the kitchen sink or taking a shower or bath, there is no convenient time for a clogged drain. Many people decide that the quickest solution is the best one – pouring some commercial drain-clearing chemical down the hatch to try and push out whatever’s causing the problem. However, is that really the best solution?
While many products claim to be safe for your plumbing, it may be good to take a close look at the product label. Often, the product is actually only ‘safe’ for certain types of plumbing. In addition, the chemicals included can kill harmful bacteria in septic tanks, or mix in a bad way with other chemicals in sewage systems. For these and other reasons, many homeowners have decided that when their drains get clogged, they’ll use a plunger, drain snake, or some other less harmful method to clear the clog.
