People around the world admire Hawaiians for being so laid back and easygoing. Besides the natural beauty of our islands, it’s these qualities that keep tourists coming back year after year. However, one thing that we should never be laid back about is personal safety. It’s important to always be vigilant, even strict, when it comes to keeping ourselves and others safe.
A very important part of keeping safe when working around the house is using Personal Protective Equipment, or PPE. PPE is any gear that can help us avoid injury or harm. Common examples include hard hats, safety glasses, work boots, and gloves. These things are not just for construction workers. If you stop to think about some of the projects you’ve done around your house, you can probably also imagine ways you could have hurt yourself while doing them. The next time you start working on one of the items on your to-do list, think about what PPE you will wear.
